On most cars and Im sure it's the same on our Mustangs, open the door and where the door is hinged onto the car there should be a button that when the door opens it lets the button out, thus allowing the lights to come on, and when the door is closed it pushes in the button turning off the lights. No problems since. The switch is back by the door latch. It is hard to get to even if you take the door panel off but really squirt the heck out of it and the WD-40 will get in there. I had problems opening my tailgate and the WD-40 worked on that too. I think the problem is that the plastic gets gummed up and sticks.
